I purchased this tablet to take notes in class. It is really useful especially when combined with OneNote 2007. It runs Windows 7 which most people believe is not the most touch-friendly OS out there. But, there are a few enhancements I made that improved usability.
1. I followed a document on Dell's site that gave tips for speeding up the tablet and making the UI easier to use. One of the most important tips is to increase the DPI to 125%. That makes a huge difference as it makes all the buttons bigger and easier to tap. Another tip I did was to drag the onscreen keyboard to fill the whole width of the screen. Once you adjust it like this, it will always remember that setting.
2. I installed this little app called Touch Control which lets you turn finger touch on and off easily. This is useful for when you are going to be using the pen extensively while taking notes or drawing. It has an icon which sits in the system tray and you double-tap it to toggle between on/off.
3. Touch apps and games: I downloaded Microsoft's touch pack which has some cool apps like Collage (photo viewer) and Microsoft Globe which is a virtual globe that you can zoom in to see different parts of the world. All the Angry Birds games also work on it, and you can download from Rovio's website. For reading PDF documents, I use SumatraPDF because it is simpler and more touch-friendly than Adobe Reader. You switch between windowed mode and full screen by doing a two-finger tap anywhere on the screen. The Kindle app is also good and touch-friendly. ArtRage 2 Starter is also fun on this too. I also downloaded Bluestacks which lets me run some Android apps like Facebook and Pandora. But, because the Latitude ST has Intel GMA 600 graphics, it is lacking some hardware acceleration features that are needed to run certain apps like iHeart radio, so I was not able to install that. I don't really use Bluestacks that much though because it is very laggy due to the slow Atom Z670 CPU.
4. Pen flicks: This is so useful, and I find myself trying to use them on my iPod Touch (which doesn't have those features). For example, to copy a selection, you do a quick swipe towards the top right. To paste, you swipe to bottom right. To go back or forward in the browser, you swipe to left or right. The pen flicks are so helpful and make the experience more fun.
Overall, this tablet is definitely great for taking notes and basic drawing. OneNote 2007 works great. Drawing is good except in GimPhoto (Gimp with Photoshop UI). Starting the software took a long time. Once started it was ok until I started adding more layers. Then the tablet froze and I had to use task manager to close it. So, I wouldn't recommend Photoshop on this, but basic drawing is good.
Only downsides are that the tablet can be sluggish at times, especially when loading webpages that have Flash content. Disabling Flash in addon settings of Internet Explorer did not seem to make much of a difference. Also, the graphics are not good for advanced games, even older ones. I tried installing Age of Empires I and II, and both failed to start due to lack of support for DirectDraw.
So, if you are a teen looking for a cool tablet for games, this is not for you. If you're looking for a solid professional tablet to get real work done, I definitely recommend this. Dell has really done an outstanding job and I only wish more college students knew how much time could be saved by using a tablet PC in class.

Wish this tablet worked as easy as my smart phone. Now the screen won't work at all. Now I have to figure out how to fix it.
